Birthing Embodied Series

Comprehensive Body Care From Prenatal to Postpartum

We’re so excited to introduce Birthing Embodied, our first comprehensive series focused on the physical journey of pregnancy, birth, and postpartum. Having worked with clients for over 10 years, in every stage prenatal to postpartum, our team has put together a new approach to birth class – one which centers around you, caring for your body, and which prioritizes your physical well being.

This 8-week, 4-part series offers lecture, exercises and birth prep, and education to support your body during pregnancy, labor, birth, and the perinatal period.

Participants will meet virtually every other week for one hour with Corynne Cirilli, DTI certified postpartum doula and Control D instructor.

Each 75 minute session will focus on providing body care education around four specific stages – Pregnancy; Pelvic Floor and Diastasis Recti Prevention; Labor and Delivery; and Postpartum.

In this series you will learn:

  • Injury Prevention During Pregnancy and Labor

  • Preventing Diastasis Recti

  • Exercises to Prepare for Labor and Delivery

  • Improving Posture to Alleviate Pain

  • Best Practices for Birth

  • Caring for Your Postpartum Body

  • Caring for and Strengthening your Pelvic Floor

  • Breathwork for Perinium Care During Delivery

At the end of each session, we will provide a home program for participants to work on between sessions as well as hand-outs with summaries and information from the session. All participants will also be offered a 30-minute virtual postpartum session with Corynne.

Designed to put yourself in the most optimal position possible for labor and delivery, we developed this program to empower clients with information and best practices for comprehensive body care.

Birth does not need to equal injury and peeing your pants forever is not normal!

Clients that prepared with us prenatally have been empowered to mitigate injury, deepen their body/mind connection, and build confidence of their body’s function and capabilities.

Join our supportive, non-judgmental series today, and start your journey toward a better experience from pregnancy into the postpartum period.

Questions:

  • We are approaching the process of birth from a lens that goes beyond labor and pushing. Using the Control D approach of comprehensive body care, you will learn what is happening in your body throughout pregnancy, labor, birth, and into the postpartum period. (Including recovery and body feeding). The information, education, and exercises we provide will teach you how to move and care for your body in pregnancy, best practices for birthing, and will offer in depth postpartum care to mitigate injury and pain.

  • Many birthing classes focus only labor and delivery, with a strong emphasis on coping with labor pain and engaging partner support. While those things are helpful, we have found through our years of working with clients that preparing your body physically has a positive impact on labor and delivery as well as a more functional body after birth.

We will work with you on things like:

    • Getting your baby in the optimal position for delivery

    • Strengthening your body for labor

    • Breathwork and strength for shorter pushing / less tearing

    • Strengthening and protecting your pelvic floor for a faster postpartum recovery

    • Preventing injury during pregnancy

    • Stretches to alleviate pain in postpartum

    • Preventing diastasis

  • When we work with people beginning in pregnancy, we see that they are less likely to develop Diastasis Recti, Pubic Symphysis Dysfunction, Prolapse, and Incontinence. We also notice our clients who work with us prenatally have shorter pushing times and are more likely to deliver vaginally with less tearing. With so many clients having had a more positive and empowered birth experience, we wanted to develop a series to reach more people!

  • If you are unable to attend one of the sessions, you will be sent all the materials and the session outline.
